 GCCS Learning Community,

We have just been given an official announcement that all schools in the State of New Mexico will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 School Year.

We are submitting a Continuous Learning Plan to the New Mexico Public Education Department that will include our local strategies to have all of our students continue their learning and school work in the best way that we can. Principals and teachers will be connecting with students and families to provide more guidance in the upcoming days.

We are fully aware of the challenges inherent with students who do not have internet access or the devices to engage in the assignments through this route. The Academic Department along with many others are working on other methods to see that all students will get access to school work.

All staff will continue to work during the school closures. They are not on break and will continue to work from home or various other locations. The Grants-Cibola County School District is committed to providing the best education possible and meals to all of the children in the communities considering the current circumstances.

District administration is meeting daily and is also staying in close contact with the New Mexico Public Education Department and the New Mexico Department of Public Health.

We are all working together in ways that have truly shown the spirit of our school staffs and the support of the community to make sure that our students are safe, fed, and learning.

Our Student Nutrition Staff, Educational Assistants, Bus Drivers and all who have been involved in keeping the meals out to the community are all appreciated by all of us.

To be clear, and to summarize, the distribution of the lunches will continue and students will be contacted about how to engage with teachers for continuous learning.

High school students will be getting more information on completing the essential credits needed and any adjustments that will need to be made with graduation dates and ceremonies.

Visit the district website at www.gccs.k12.nm.us

There will be much more to come.

We will all work through this, and be assured that we couldn’t have better people to work with in these times.
